Goal Setting Is Easy.  The Hard Part is Sticking to It!

Goal setting is very important in building a path towards greater website success.  Most of us may be having trouble with that second part of Goal setting,   the sticking to our goals part…

We probably start of great,  and we really believe we can achieve our website success goals.  Then as time passes,   our  goal setting has now become goal forgetting.

Goal setting should be one of our main strategies to improve our level of website success.

Without goals we will lack direction and purpose,   and will end up wasting a great deal of our time….

Setting goals for our websites improved performance should be something we attend to every day,  then probably do a Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly site performance review…,

Even if we set up an easy to follow goal setting plan that doesn’t  put too much pressure on us,  is better than not setting some website success goals at all….

Why do we Sometimes Give Up on Our Goal Setting?

There would be many reasons why we stop setting goals and following the path to achieving them..

One of the reasons people quit their website success dreams and abandon their goal setting schedule,  is when they lack the motivation to push on!

I talked about how I believe that Motivation is secret behind Successful Entrepreneurs and it’s something that is  a handy thing to have in your Arsenal of website success tools.

Also,  the motivation we need is the one that helps us “stick “  to our goal setting plans,  not the type of motivation that “whispers in your ear”  to run away from any goal setting tasks we have set in place….

Goal Setting Sounds Great,  but what if  I have no Goals?

Go and make some goals!

Remember that you may need to start small with your goal setting then start to add bigger goals as you get those smaller goals accomplished…

On the other hand you may wish to go after really “big “  goals,  that will motivate you to strive for more…

My own opinion is that it’s best to have a goal setting plan that included both small goals and big goals,  so you keep a nice balance…

Your first Goal setting chores could be something like the following…

(1).   Make it your goal to having a regular Blog post publishing schedule and try to stick to it as best you can.

(2).   Spend some time each day doing keyword research,  then work towards gaining good search engine rankings with those keywords.

(3).  Make it your goal to increase your sites Newsletter or feed subscriber numbers.   Whether you have,  10, 100, 1000,  10’000 subscribers,   it’s a good thing to work towards building those subscriber numbers up…

(4).  Make it your goal to go over your website and look for any ways to improve your sites navigation,   to add to your visitors experience….

(5).   Your Goal setting may be about your website’s money making potential.    If you are using Adsense Ads or promoting affiliate products and services,   make it your goal to try and have higher and consistent earnings each month.

Your Goal setting plan could be to make a list of  “Milestones”  you wish to achieve by certain dates,  then follow up with your own progress reports…(Just don’t stress out too much over it)!

I wish to achieve {  ???????? }  within one month,  3 months,  6 months,  one year,  5 years,  10 years……once you set a time frame to achieve your goals,  you will be more motivated towards achieving them!

There are probably hundreds,  if not thousands of things we could add to a goal setting plan,  the key is not the number of goals we choose,  the key is actually working towards the goals we have chosen.

Here’s a fantastic article called Golden Rules of Goal Setting from the,   Mindtools.com  website .  The article gives you some great information about what goals are,  goal setting and how to set up a goal setting plan…..

Procrastination Puts our Goal Setting In plan Into Limbo!

For anyone who suffers from Procrastination,  wishing to put their goal setting plan into action will be a much greater challenge….

I spoke about how we should aim to defeat Procrastination,  and kick it out of our lives once and for all if we wish to see improved levels of success in our lives.

Procrastination is like the “  Art of putting everything off until later on”  only we just never seem to reach THAT “later on” …So all our dreams and goals are put off indefinitely…

Don’t let Procrastination defeat your Website Goal setting plans.  Set goals,  keep working consistently on the goals you have set,  and the results will be worth the effort.

Goal setting for improved website success isn’t that hard!

If  we are committed to laying down our own plan for achieving greater online success,    and we “steer clear of “  any tendencies to slacken off and allowing ourselves to fall too far back,   we should be seeing the “fruits of our goal setting plan’s labor “  within a reasonable amount of time…..

What are your own experiences with setting goals for improving your website’s success?
