WordPress Plugins That Rescued My Site
That May sound a bit over dramatic, though, that’s how things turned out. Both during and After my migration from Blogger to WordPress, I have tested out quite a few WordPress Plugins.
The truth is, many WordPress plugins did NOT work at all{I’ll get to that later) and I was really surprised that others have not made a bigger issue of this, as many of those NOT working plugins have important functions.
Other WordPress Plugins I have tried seem to be working, though, they are not very stable. Also, some WordPress Plugins are said to be free, yet, to get the proper usage of them you need to pay for premium(membership) services….which really surprised me.
Anyway! Back to the WordPress Plugins that did work.
(1). Permalink Finder WordPress Plugin by Keith Graham.
Permalink finder WordPress Plugin by Keith Graham has been one of the most helpful WordPress Plugins for me so far. It Helped me to repair a large number of Both Permalink structure problems and also many broken(404 errors) links that occurred during my Blogger WordPress Migration.. There are many other great WordPress Plugins, though, without this one I would have been stuck with plenty of 404 pages.

The Permalink Finder WordPress Plugin is really easy to set up. Most of the set up is done for you by the default settings. Though, you can make desired changes as you wish.

Once you have decided on your settings(Or just use the default settings) then just sit there and watch as the Permalink Finder WordPress Plugin do it’s Magic!
Again I wish to mention how very helpful the Permalink Finder WordPress Plugin is. This one plugin alone saved me a ton of time and hard work, as it quickly repaired a large number of broken permalinks and also some 404 errors.
If you are thinking of Migrating from Blogger to WordPress or if you have any permalink problems, why not give the Permalink Finder WordPress Plugin a try.
(2). Antispam Bee WordPress Plugin
Antispam bee WordPress Plugin by Sergej Muelller is a very useful WordPress plugin that is a great alternative to using Askimet and other spam filters(you can also run Antispam bee along side your other antispam programs–though watch out if there are any conflicts between them). It does a great job in catching a lot of spam that other programs often miss. here is a quick look at Anti Spam Bee.

(3). Broken Link Checker WordPress Plugin
Broken Link Checker WordPress Plugin by White Shadow is another quite useful WordPress Plugin. It is a little more difficult to set up as it has many options to choose from. Though, you will also find that most of the default setting are just fine. Broken Link Checker runs in the background continually looking for any broken links on your posts or comments, detects missing images and redirects and much more. This is another very helpful WordPress Plugin that can save you a lot of time and effort.

Authors note: Broken link checker has another four different pages of options for your set up. {As you would have seen in the image above after clicking on the image to enlarge it. }
As I did not want to put too many images in this one post, I decided to leave the other four pages out. You can go to the links above to the official site for the Broken link checker white shadow, or the WordPress Plugins directory, if you wish to know more about this great WordPress Plugin.
Now it’s your turn to let me know what WordPress Plugins you are using!

I love the broken link checker. It just simplifies life when you frequently refer to other sites and don’t know when they’ve gotten rid of a link.
Great post Danny!
Many thanks, Tams….
I have gone back to the native WordPress comment form for the time being(give the intense debate system a rest for a while) and I will try to add more options for those adding comments….
There are many great plugins, and for me the Permalink finder and Anti spam bee have been very helpful…..
The Broken-link checker seems to just keep running in the background, and so far I have not had any errors reported which may be a bit of a worry(I should have a few errors at least)….
I sometimes do a manual broken link check through my whole site(or as much as possible) It sounds a little crazy, though, it helps me to verify all internal and external links are still functioning…
Also, when I do this it is usually as I am going through my older posts and cleaning them up to get rid of spelling, grammar, and post presentation issues..(there are plenty)
Zenu link sleuth does quite a good job, if you need to do a thorough check of your links….
There is another WordPress plugin that does a security check for any vulnerabilities in our sites codes, data base , etc it is called Ultimate Security checker….
It picked up some security issues in some codes I had used for instructions.
The codes were from trustworthy sites, though, sections of the code were considered to present a possible security threat…
The Security checker does quite a decent job, going through many different areas….
The only down side is I think they only offer a paid service for repairs to be done…..
Though, other people have stated that this is a free service…
Anyway…it’s nice to see you over here again, Tams…
Take care,
Danny…..
